Our client is a real estate development firm specializing in multifamily communities, with a portfolio of nearly 9,000 units across four states. The firm combines institutional expertise with an entrepreneurial focus.

Job Summary:

The Director of Risk Management will oversee insurance, surety bonding, and risk management across the firm’s real estate investments, in-house construction, and operating companies. This role ensures compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements while collaborating with project managers, brokers, legal, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage insurance-related inquiries and oversee portfolio-wide insurance programs.
• Secure and maintain project-specific insurance (e.g., liability, Builder’s Risk, property, flood).
• Handle documentation and tracking for bonds and insurance policies.
• Review and negotiate contract terms related to insurance coverage.
• Oversee claims reporting, loss control inspections, and litigation as needed.
• Manage insurance payments, renewals, and carrier relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate insurance, risk management, and/or construction risk
• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business or Real Estate desired
• Demonstrated knowledge of real estate construction insurance
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
